    BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons cross-country swept the Great Northeast Athletic Conference weekly awards announced Tuesday as senior Nicole Chao (Fremont, Calif.) was named GNAC Runner of the Week and freshman Tiffany Pierce (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) received Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this season. Sharks tennis freshman Meghan Cokely (Haverhill, Mass.) also received GNAC Tennis Rookie of the Week honors in addition to Tennis Rookie of the Year, awarded earlier this week.

    BOSTON, Mass. – With seven consecutive GNAC women’s tennis championships to its name, the Simmons Sharks were the overwhelming favorite in the 2012 Pre-Season poll, recording 80 out of a possible 81 points with eight first place votes. Emerson College, who fell to the Sharks in the 2011 GNAC title match, was second in the poll with 70 points and one first place vote while Emmanuel College placed third in the poll with 66 points.
