Downey Named GNAC Tennis Rookie of the Week

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons freshman Rachael Downey (Groveland, Mass.) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tennis Rookie of the Week Tuesday by the conference. Downey went undefeated this week at 3-0, as the Sharks remain undefeated in GNAC action.

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons freshman Rachael Downey (Groveland, Mass.) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tennis Rookie of the Week Tuesday by the conference. Downey went undefeated this week at 3-0, as the Sharks remain undefeated in GNAC action.

Downey won both of her matches versus Emerson on Saturday with a come from behind win at #4 singles (4-6, 6-3, 6-1) and an 8-4 victory in doubles. She also posted an 8-3 doubles win over Suffolk in GNAC action earlier in the week.

The Sharks return to action this afternoon when they travel to Albertus Magnus College for a 3:30 p.m. start.
