Simmons Tennis Falls to Brandeis

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons tennis fell to Brandeis University, 9-0 Monday afternoon in non-conference action. The Sharks move to an overall record of 10-2 and 8-0 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

In doubles action, Carley Cooke and Ally Bernstein defeated Margaret Teague (Manchester, N.H.) and Meghan Cokely (Haverhill, Mass.) 8-4 in the number one position, while Sabrina Salmela (Beverly, Mass.) and Rachael Downey (Groveland, Mass.) fell to Simone Vandroff and Maya Vasser 8-5. Kristi Mielbye (Hanson, Mass.) and Caroline Khoury (Portsmouth, Ohio) played a hard fought match but fell to Roberta Bergstein and Dylan Schlesinger 8-4 in the number three spot.

In singles, nationally ranked #17 Cooke defeated Teague 6-2, 6-0 and Salmela, and Cokely both fell to the Judges at number two and three, respectively. Rachel Sweeney (Norfolk, Mass.) fell to Alexa Katz 6-0, 6-2, and Katie Crowley (Reading, Mass.) and Casey Gilman (Hampstead, N.H.) each came up short, both falling 6-3, 6-3 to Sarita Biswas and Emily Eska.

The Sharks return to action on Wednesday, October 10th when they host Bentley at 4:00 p.m.
