Sharks Sweep AMCATS, 9-0

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons tennis swept the Anna Maria AMCATS 9-0 Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action. With the win, the Sharks move to 9-1 overall and remain undefeated at 8-0 in the GNAC.

In doubles action, Casey Gilman (Hampstead, N.H.) paired with Meghan Cokely (Haverhill, Mass.) to defeated Nicole Goudreau and Katelyn Edelson at the number one position, while Kristi Mielbye (Hanson, Mass.) and Caroline Khoury (Portsmouth, Ohio) defeated Victoria Minotti and Kelly Blake to give the Sharks a 2-0 lead. In the third position, Sarah Giraldo (Lisbon Falls, Maine) and Katie Crowley (Reading, Mass.) defeated Krystle Arce and Cassey Harrington 8-0 to round out the doubles play.

Up 3-0, the Sharks swept the singles with Cokely, Rachel Sweeney (Norfolk, Mass.), Mielbye, Gilman, Giraldo, and Maddie Theoharidis (Sedgwick, Maine) picking up wins for the Simmons.

The Sharks return to action Sunday when they travel to Johnson & Wales for a 4:30 p.m. start.
