Sharks Tennis Opens GNAC Play With Win

Senior Nahrhee Han battled to the very end, but could not pull out the victory as Sharks junior Margaret Teague (Manchester, N.H.) won the third set to give the Sharks a 5-4 victory Monday evening. The Lyons move to 1-1 overall, while the Sharks improve to 1-1 with the victory.

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons tennis cruised to their third consecutive 9-0 victory Wednesday afternoon against Great Northeast Athletic Conference rival Suffolk University at the Winsor School courts.

WEST HARTFORD, Mass. -- Simmons tennis opened Great Northeast Athletic Conference play with a 9-0 win against the University of Saint Joseph Blue Jays Saturday afternoon.

The Sharks swept all three doubles matches 8-0 with Margaret Teague (Manchester, N.H.) and Meghan Cokely (Haverhill, Mass.) adding their third win as a duo. In singles play, Sabrina Salmela (Beverly, Mass.) defeated Meghan Toth 6-0, 6-0 in the number one position. Rachel Sweeney (Norfolk, Mass.) defeated Lisa Wawrynowski 6-4, 6-2 at number two, while Katie Crowley (Reading, Mass.), Casey Gilman (Hampstead, N.H.), and Maddie Theoharidis (Sedgwick, Maine) each picked up their first collegiate singles win.

The Sharks return to action on Sunday, September 16th, at 12:00 p.m. at Mount Ida College.
