Sharks Come From Behind for Sixth Consecutive Win

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons tennis battled back after dropping two doubles matches to defeat Great Northeast Athletic Conference rival Emerson College 6-3, Saturday afternoon in a rematch of the 2011 GNAC Championship game.

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons tennis battled back after dropping two doubles matches to defeat Great Northeast Athletic Conference rival Emerson College 6-3, Saturday afternoon in a rematch of the 2011 GNAC Championship game.

Sabrina Salmela (Beverly, Mass.) and Rachael Downey (Groveland, Mass.) remain undefeated in doubles action, as they cruised to an 8-4 win over Alicia Pellegrin and Natalie Nicholas for the Sharks sole doubles victory. In singles action, Sharks freshmen Meghan Cokely (Haverhill, Mass.) and Katie Crowley (Reading, Mass.) each posted huge wins to put the Sharks in a position for the win.

In the first singles position, Margaret Teague (Manchester, N.H.) defeated Lacey Russell 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 in a fierce showdown, while Downey rebounded after losing the first to defeat Jana Winfield 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 to solidify the win.

The Sharks return to the court on Tuesday, September 25th at 3:30 p.m. at Albertus Magnus, while the Lions travel to Saint Joseph University on Monday, September 24th for a 4:00 p.m. start.
