  • Sharks Receive 2011-2012 GNAC Academic All-Conference Honors

    BOSTON, Mass. -- The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) honored 618 student athletes from 14 institutions on its 2011-2012 All-Academic Team announced this afternoon. Forty-five Simmons athletes received the honor, with representation from all eight varsity programs sponsored by the GNAC.

    BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons freshman Chloe Davis (Merrimack, N.H.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Swimming Rookie of the Year announced Monday by the conference. Davis was a key contributor for the Sharks all season, who finished 11th at NEISDA Championships and were crowned GNAC Champions for the eighth consecutive year.
  • Simmons Swimming and Diving Achieve Scholar All America Status

    BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Swimming and Diving has been named to the Fall 2011 Scholar All America Team announced Wednesday by the College Swim Coaches Association of America. The Sharks made the list with a GPA of 3.31, falling in between neighbors Smith College and Wellesley College.
  • Sharks Swimming Finishes 11th at New England Championships

    WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. -- Simmons Swimming and Diving finished 11th out of 22 teams this weekend in the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships held at the Upper Valley Aquatics Center. Leading the Sharks was sophomore Jen Collins (Trumbull, Conn.), who won the 100 IM event in a new school record time of 1:02.21, the first Simmons swimmer to win a New England event since records were kept.
  • Swimming and Diving to Compete in NEISDA Championships

    BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Swimming and Diving will travel to White River Junction, Vt. to compete in the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships at the Upper Valley Aquatics Center this weekend, beginning Friday, February 17th. The Sharks had 14 swimmers qualify for the Championships this year.

    SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Amy Davis (Southbury, Conn.) won two events as the Simmons Swimming and Diving team posted a 173-89 victory over Western New England Sunday afternoon at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.

    BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Swimming and Diving finished first and second in the 200 Freestyle Relay to overtake the Westfield State University Owls 150-144 in the final event of the meet Wednesday evening at the Holmes Sports Center. The Sharks move to 6-4 on the season with the win as the team celebrated its four seniors, Whitney Leonard (West Roxbury, Mass.), Elise Grover (Norwood, Mass.), Suzie Quinlan (Needham, Mass.), and Steph Bitzas (Westfield, Mass.).

    STANDISH, Maine -- Simmons Swimming and Diving was victorious over Great Northeast Athletic Conference rival Saint Joseph’s College of Maine 166-87, Saturday afternoon, the team’s third straight win in five days. Senior Molly Bohannon (Westbrook, Conn.) and sophomore Jen Collins (Trumbull, Conn.) paced the Sharks with 18 individual points apiece.

    WESTON, Mass. -- Simmons Swimming and Diving defeated the Regis College Pride 150-102 Friday evening to move to 4-4 overall in their 2011-2012 campaign. Sharks sophomore Lea Monahan (Avon, Mass.), freshman Hillary Wong (Quincy, Mass.), and sophomore Jen Collins (Trumbull, Conn.) each recorded 18 points to give the Simmons the win.

    BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Swimming and Diving fell to the Mount Holyoke College Lyons 154-137 Saturday afternoon, in a close match up at the Holmes Sports Center pool. The Sharks had four swimmers take home double digit points but the Lyons touched out the Sharks in two close races to take home the win.

    BOSTON, Mass. -- With two grueling days of competition complete, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference crowned its 2011 Women’s Swimming and Diving and Men’s Invitational Champions this evening at the Holmes Sports Center. Simmons captured the women’s championship with 259 points, while the Norwich University Cadet’s took home top honors in the Men’s Invitational with 289.

    BOSTON, Mass. -- The 2011 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships and Men’s Invitational are underway as the Simmons Sharks lead the Women’s field with 136 points, followed by Elms College with 97, Saint Joseph College (Conn.) with 82, Saint Joseph’s College (Maine) posting 52, Regis College with 42, Norwich University with 27, and Husson University posting 26 points to round out the teams after the first day of competition.

    BABSON PARK, Mass. -- The Babson College women's swimming and diving team earned its second victory of the season on Tuesday night, defeating visiting Simmons College by a score of 152-118 at Morse Pool. With the win, the Beavers are now 2-4 overall, while the Sharks dipped to 2-3 on the year.

Bohannon was the high point scorer for Simmons with 11 individual points.

  • Sharks Sweep in Home Opener

    BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Swimming and Diving swept their first meet of the season against the Gordon College Fighting Scots 96-30, and the Elms College Blazers 69-58, Saturday afternoon at the Holmes Sports Center. The Blazers defeated the Fighting Scots 87-34. The Sharks also hosted a dual men’s meet between the Blazers and Fighting Scots, with the Blazers defeating Gordon College, 138-89.
  • Swimming and Diving To Participate in the 2011 Ted Mullin “Hour of Power” Relay for Sarcoma Research

    BOSTON, Mass. -- The Simmons Swimming and Diving team will participate in the 2011 Ted Mullin “Hour of Power” Relay for Sarcoma Research on Tuesday, November 8th to raise awareness of Sarcoma Cancer (a rare soft tissue cancer) and to raise funds for Saracoma research.
  • 2011-2012 Swimming & Diving Season Preview

    The Simmons Swimming and Diving team will open their 2011-2012 season this Saturday against Westfield State College and are looking to build upon their momentum from last season. After a disappointing first half of the 2010 season, the Sharks refocused during a mid-season training camp and were unstoppable for the remainder of the season, culminating in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship.
