Sharks Swimming & Diving Falls to UNE

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Swimming & Diving fell to the University of New England Nor?easters 150-121 on Saturday afternoon at the Holmes Sports Center. The Sharks fell to 2-1 on the season while the Nor?easters move to 3-0 overall.

Sharks junior Anne Karasek (Brookline, Mass.) finished first in the 1650 and third in the 500 Freestyle, earning 12 individual points for the Sharks. Karasek secured a New England A-cut in the mile for her commanding win by nearly 20 seconds in the mile.

Freshman Chloe Davis (Merrimack, N.H.) finished second in the 50 and 200 Backstroke and finished third in the 200 IM. C. Davis also anchored the winning 200 Freestyle relay to secure the team victory for Simmons. Davis posted A-cuts in all three individual events for New England's.

Simmons posted 17 points from sophomore Jen Collins (Trumbull, Conn.) who finished first in the 200 Freestyle, second in the 50 and 100 Freestyle, and was the third leg of the 200 Freestyle relay. Junior Molly Bohannon (Westbrook, Conn.) added 13 points for her first place finish in the 200 Butterfly, second in the 500 Freestyle, and was the third leg of the 200 Medley relay.

UNE's Lizzie Wareham swam a stellar day for the Nor'easters, claiming first place in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle by almost a second in each race. Wareham also took first in the 50 Butterfly.

Sharks head coach Mindy Williams said, "We have raced UNE during the past several years at the Regis Invitational and the New England Championship, but we have never matched-up in a dual meet. I was pleased to see how competitive the meet was for both sides."

The Sharks return to action on Saturday, November 19th at 1:00 when they host Wellesley College at the Holmes Sports Center.
