Sharks Swimming and Diving Falls to Babson

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- The Babson College women's swimming and diving team earned its second victory of the season on Tuesday night, defeating visiting Simmons College by a score of 152-118 at Morse Pool. With the win, the Beavers are now 2-4 overall, while the Sharks dipped to 2-3 on the year.

WESTON, Mass. -- Simmons Swimming and Diving defeated the Regis College Pride 150-102 Friday evening to move to 4-4 overall in their 2011-2012 campaign. Sharks sophomore Lea Monahan (Avon, Mass.), freshman Hillary Wong (Quincy, Mass.), and sophomore Jen Collins (Trumbull, Conn.) each recorded 18 points to give the Simmons the win.

Sharks sophomore Jen Collins (Trumbull, Conn.) captured the Sharks only first place finish in the 100 Free. Junior Molly Bohannon (Westbrook, Conn.) picked up two third place finishes in the 1000 Free and the 500 Free. Amy Davis (Southbury, Conn.) took second in the 100 IM, the last individual event of the evening.

Babson first-year Kendall Ford finished first in the 200 and 500 Freestyle events, first-year Erica Riccardi won the 50 and 100 Back, senior Nikita Nadkarni claimed wins in the 50 and 100 Breaststroke races, senior Mallory Mosk won the 100 Fly, senior Brittany Bishop finished first in the 50 Free, and sophomore Mika Cucullo earned victories in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.

Rounding out the Beavers' list of event winners were first-year Ascia Johnson, who won the 1000 free, the quartet of Riccardi, Nadkarni, Mosk, and Bishop, who won the 200 medley relay.

"At this point in the season, consistency is as important as anything else, particularly coming off of Thanksgiving Break. I am excited to see that nothing was lost with a few days off," said Coach Williams.

The Sharks return to action this weekend in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, where they look to capture their 10th title in 11 years. The event begins at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and 10:00 a.m. on Sunday at the Holmes Sports Center at Simmons College.
