Sharks Swim to Victory Over Corsairs

BOSTON, Mass. -- Molly Bohannon (Westbrook, Conn.) finished second in the 1650 Free and 200 Fly and finished third in the 500 Free in the Sharks meet against Wellesley College Saturday afternoon at the Holmes Sports Center. Bohannon was the high point scorer for Simmons with 11 individual points.

The Sharks swam to an early lead with a first place finish in the 200 Medley Relay with the team of Chloe Davis (Merrimack, N.H.), Elizabeth Zamagni (Chelmsford, Mass.), Amy Davis (Southbury, Conn.), and Jen Collins (Trumbull, Conn.).

Senior Molly Bohannon (Westbrook, Conn.) placed first in the 200 Butterfly and second in the 1000 Freestyle, picking up 16 individual points for the Sharks. Collins and C. Davis added 18 points apiece with wins in the 100 and 200 Freestyle races, and 50 Free and 200 Backstroke, respectively.

Freshman Joleigh Ferro (Pittsfield, Mass.) qualified for New Englands in the 50 and 100 Free, both with "A" cuts, and senior Suzie Quinlan (Needham, Mass.) qualified for New Englands for the first time with an A-cut in the 200 Breaststroke.

Sophomore Lea Monahan (Avon, Mass.) dove to her first victory on the 1 meter, adding a valuable nine points to the Sharks score.

The Corsairs' Kim Moore won the 1000 Free by an impressive 10 seconds and added another first place finish in the 500 Free. Moore also placed third in the 200 Fly, adding 21 individual points for the UMass Dartmouth. Maggie Conlon finished first in the 200 IM and third in the 200 Backstroke.

The team of Meredith Maki, Conlon, Katelyn Kidney, and Morgan Cooper set a new pool record in the 800 Freestyle Relay with a time of 8:32.18.

The Sharks return to the pool on Friday, January 20th when they travel to Regis College for a 6:00 p.m. meet. The Corsairs travel to Eastern Connecticut on Saturday, January 21st for a 1:00 p.m. start.
