Quinlans Propel Swimming and Diving To Sweep Quad Meet over Regis, Colby-Sawyer, Elms

BOSTON – Simmons swimming and diving (6-3) opened the 2024 calendar year with a quad dual meet sweep of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foes Regis College, Elms College and Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday morning.

The Sharks claimed a total of eight first place finishes, including a pair of both sophomore Carli and senior Katelyn Quinlan

Carli Quinlan swam away from the pack in the 200 free, touching the wall with a time of 2:03.55 – 16 seconds ahead of Colby-Sawyer swimmer Rebecca Radonovich. Later in the meet, Quinlan captured first place in the 50 free with a time of 25.77.

In the second to last event of the day, senior captain Katelyn Quinlan nearly eclipsed a personal-best of 1:08:45 in the 100-yard IM to earn her first-place finish of the day. Earlier in the meet, Quinlan placed first, pacing herself to a time of 5:41.02 in the 500 free.

Fellow captain, junior Camelia Hannah secured first place in the 50-yard back with time of 30.91, while first-years Kenzie Lowry and Bee Eckels placed first in the 50 breast (36.24) and the 100 breast (1:17.50), respectively.

The Sharks 200 free relay squad of Kenzie Lowry, Katelyn Quinlan, Bee Eckels and Carli Quinlan closed out the meet with a first-place finish, clocking in with a time of 1:46.77.  

SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS

  • Senior Katelyn Quinlan secured a pair of first place finishes including nearly eclipsing a personal-best time of 1:08.45 in the 100 IM. 
  • Sophomore Carli Quinlan also capture a pair of first-place finishes in the 200 free (2:03.55) and the 50 free (25.77).
  • Junior captain Camelia Hannah secured first place in the 50-yard back with a time of 30.91.
