  • Tennis Named 2011 ITA All-Academic Team

    Simmons Tennis was named a 2011 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III All-Academic Team for the fourth year in a row, the ITA announced. In addition, seven sharks received Scholar-Athlete honors for maintaining a 3.5 or greater GPA for the 2010-11 academic year.
  • Sharks Earn 2010-11 GNAC Academic All-Conference Honors

    The Great Northeast Athletic Conference recognized 598 student-athletes from 16 league sports on the 2010-11 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference Team. 46 Simmons athletes received the honor, and all seven of the Simmons varsity programs sponsored by the GNAC were represented on this year’s Academic All-Conference Team.
  • Tennis Competes in 2011 NCAA Tournament

    Simmons College Tennis closes out the spring 2011 season after a defeat at the hands of New Paltz State in the NCAA Northeast Regional Tournament on Friday, May 13 at Amherst College. The Sharks gave up a 5-3 loss to the Hawks, exiting the tournament after the first round.
  • Sharks Ready for NCAA Tennis Tournament First Round

    Simmons College Tennis will travel to Amherst, Mass. on May 13, 2011 for the first round of the 2011 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships. Simmons will face New Paltz at Amherst College, as announced Monday afternoon by the NCAA. The winner of that match will take on top-ranked Amherst (16-2) in the second round on Saturday. The start time has yet to be announced.

    Simmons Tennis earned a decisive 8-1 victory over Smith College on Saturday to open the spring 2011 season and prepare for the NCAA Tournament.
  • Tennis Ranked #20 in the Northeast

    Simmons Tennis has been ranked 20th among the NCAA Division III Northeast programs, jumping four spots from the #24 ranking the team achieved in spring 2010. The latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) ranking follows the Sharks’ third consecutive Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship in 2010, the team’s sixth title in seven years.
  • Five Sharks Named to GNAC Tennis All-Conference Team

    Five Simmons Tennis athletes have been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference All-Conference Team, the GNAC announced on Monday. The honors follow Simmons’ third straight GNAC Championship and sixth in seven years, following the Sharks’ defeat of Emerson College in Sunday’s tournament finals and a perfect 8-0 regular season conference record.
  • Tennis Captures 2010 GNAC Title

    Simmons Tennis captured their third consecutive GNAC title on Sunday with a 5-2 win over Emerson College. The Championship, Simmons' sixth in the past seven years, gives the Sharks automatic entry into the 2011 NCAA tournament.
  • GNAC Women’s Tennis Playoff Schedule Announced

    Simmons College secured first place with an outstanding undefeated conference record of 8-0 and overall record of 11-4. The Sharks were 2008 and 2009 GNAC Champions and have entered the tournament the past two seasons in the top seed in the tournament.

    Simmons Tennis served up a big win over visiting NESCAC team Colby College, 6-3, on Monday’s Senior Day match. Seniors Katy Hallinan (Maynard, Mass.) and Maile Macleod (Carlsbad, Calif.) both captured big wins at #2 and #3 singles, respectively, to help boost the Sharks past the Mules.
  • Tennis Sweeps Weekly GNAC Honors

    Tennis sophomore Sabrina Salmela (Beverly, Mass.) and freshman Andreé Simé (Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadaloupe) were named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for the week ending on Oct. 3, 2010.
  • Sharks Hold Off Mount Holyoke, 6-3

    Powered by a doubles sweep, the Simmons tennis team topped Mount Holyoke College 6-3 this evening at the Mount Holyoke Field House. It was the Sharks’ fifth consecutive win and their first over the Lyons since the 2007-08 season.

    Simmons Tennis served up a 7-2 victory over Clark University on Thursday night. The Sharks, continuing their non-conference run, are now 1-2 on the season (0-0 GNAC), while the Cougars fall to 1-1.

    Simmons Tennis fell to hosts Babson College, 6-3, in a non-conference match at the Farwell Courts on Tuesday afternoon. With their second straight win, the Beavers improved to 2-0 on the season, while the Sharks dropped to 0-2.
  • Tennis Falls to Wheaton in Season Opener

    Simmons Tennis was swept by non-conference hosts Wheaton College, 9-0, during Saturday's opener for both squads at the Clark Tennis Courts. Both teams competed in the 2010 NCAA Tournament, but the Lyons got the best of the Sharks on the day. With the loss, Simmons drops to 0-1 overall, while Wheaton advances to 1-0 on the season.

    Simmons Tennis returns in 2010 after the most successful season in school history last year. The Sharks captured the 2009 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship title for the fifth time in six years after a dominating 8-0 regular season GNAC performance. Simmons also achieved a #24 Northeast Ranking from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association—their highest ever—and advanced to the round of 32 in the spring 2010 NCAA Tournament.

    Simmons Tennis tops the 2010 pre-season Great Northeast Athletic Conference tennis poll, the GNAC announced on Thursday. The vote follows a 2009-10 season in which the Sharks won the GNAC Tournament for the fifth time in six years, and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, the furthest the Sharks have advanced at NCAA’s, before falling to #1-seeded Amherst College.
