Sharks Capture Cougars, 7-2

Simmons Tennis served up a 7-2 victory over Clark University on Thursday night. The Sharks, continuing their non-conference run, are now 1-2 on the season (0-0 GNAC), while the Cougars fall to 1-1.

Simmons secured five of six singles matches, and two out of three doubles contests. The number one doubles team of Sabrina Salmela (Beverly, Mass.) and Maile Macleod (Carlsbad, Calif.) fell to Gabby Suriano and Sarah Sachs, 8-5, while the number two team of Melissa Keroack (Falmouth, Maine) and Andree Sime (Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadaloupe) bested Julia Bergeron and Olivia Levine, 8-1. The number three duo of Athena Lynch (Andover, Mass.) and Katy Hallinan (Maynard, Mass.) defeated Ginny Cooke and Maggie Swann, 8-3.

In the singles, Macleod, freshman Allison Bodek (Lynnfield, Mass.), Hallinan, Sime and Keroack all took home singles wins on the night, while Salmela fell to Clark's number one Gabby Suriano.

The Sharks will next face off against Wesleyan on Saturday, September 11 at 1:00pm, while Clark will face Wheaton the same day.
