Tennis sophomore Sabrina Salmela (Beverly, Mass.) and freshman Andreé Simé (Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadaloupe) were named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for the week ending on Oct. 3, 2010.

Salmela had singles and doubles wins in the number one position at Suffolk this week. She also added a win at #1 doubles vs. Mt Holyoke.

"Sabrina had a great start to the week with a come-from-behind doubles win over Suffolk," said Head Coach Bob Rauseo. "Her singles and doubles matches against Mount Holyoke show that she can compete with players from some of the best conferences in the country. Her consistent hard work continues to raise the level of her game."

Simé led all GNAC players with six victories for the week. Included in the wins were singles and doubles triumphs over Suffolk and UAA powerhouse Brandeis. She also added victories against St. Joseph's Maine and Mt. Holyoke.

"Andreé had wins in all four of the Sharks' dual matches this week. Her win at Brandeis was on of the Sharks' best performances of the season," said Rauseo. "Her willingness to make changes in her game has her collegiate career off to a nice start."
