  • 18 From Field Hockey Named to Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA National Academic Squad

    GILBERT, Ariz. – The Simmons College field hockey team saw 18 student-athletes named to the Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Academic Squad, it was announced by the NFHCA.

    GILBERT, Ariz. – Simmons College field hockey senior Julie Kellndorfer (Amherst, N.H.), sophomores Meg Pereira (New Bedford, Mass.) and Hannah Scott (Claremont, N.H.) and first year Elizabeth Poteat (Westfield, Mass.) were all named Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Scholars of Distinction it was announced by the NFHCA.

    GILBERT, Ariz. - The Simmons College field hockey team posted a 3.56 fall semester grade point average to earn the 2017 ZAG Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Collegiate National Academic Team Award it was announced today by the NFHCA. The honor marks the 17th straight year that the Sharks have earned the accolade.
  • McNamara Named GNAC Field Hockey Rookie of the Year; Six Named to All-Conference Team

    WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College’s Lucy McNamara (Brewster, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Field Hockey Rookie of the Year and was also selected Second Team All-Conference. McNamara was one of six Sharks to be tabbed to the Second Team, joining Abigail Anderson (South Yarmouth, Mass.), Meghan Fontaine (Westminster, Mass.), Maggie Fuzak (Buffalo, N.Y.), Sammy Rondeau (Franklin, Mass.) and Julie Saltamartini (East Hampstead, N.H.), it was announced today by the league. In addition, Rondeau was also tabbed to the All-Sportsmanship Team. 
  • Field Hockey Falls at Saint Joseph's (Maine), 5-0, in GNAC Semifinals

    STANDISH, Maine - The third-seeded Simmons College field hockey team was defeated by host number two seed Saint Joseph's College (Maine), 5-0, this afternoon in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship Tournament Semifinals at the SJC Athletics Complex in Standish, Maine. The Sharks conclude their season with a 12-7 record, while the Monks advance to the GNAC Championship with a mark of 14-5 and will take on the winner of top-seed Lasell College and number four seed Mount Ida College.
  • Rondeau Named GNAC Field Hockey Player of the Week

    WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College’s Sammy Rondeau (Franklin, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week for the week of October 23-29, it was announced by the league today. Rondeau is the second Shark to earn the accolade this year following senior forward Julie Saltamartini (East Hampstead, N.H.), who was named the league’s top player for the week of September 25 to October 1. 
  • Saltamartini Scores Four to Lead Field Hockey over Anna Maria, 8-0, in GNAC Quarterfinals

    BOSTON, Mass. – Senior forward Julie Saltamartini (East Hampstead, N.H.) matched her career high with four goals to give her 21 to break the school mark for season markers, while leading the third-seeded Simmons College field hockey team to an 8-0 victory over number six seed Anna Maria College today in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship Tournament Quarterfinals at Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks improve to 12-6 and advance to the GNAC Semifinals at second-seeded Saint Joseph’s College (Maine) in Standish, Maine on November 1. The AMCATS finish their season with a 5-14 mark. 
  • Rondeau Scores Twice To Lead Field Hockey Over UMass Dartmouth, 3-2

    BOSTON, Mass. – Junior forward Sammy Rondeau (Franklin, Mass.) scored her fourth game-winning goal of the season and tallied her 100th career point to lead the Simmons College field hockey team to a 3-2 victory over visiting University of Massachusetts Dartmouth this evening at Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks boost their overall record to 11-6, while the Corsairs fall to 9-8 on the season.
  • Field Hockey Falls at Lasell, 3-0

    NEWTON, Mass. – The Simmons field hockey team was defeated by host Lasell College, 3-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match this afternoon on Grellier Field in Newton, Mass. The Sharks fall to 10-6 overall and 5-2 in league play, while the Lasers improve to 14-3 and a perfect 7-0 in GNAC action to clinch their first-ever regular-season title. Simmons will be the number three seed in the upcoming GNAC Championship Tournament Quarterfinals on October 28, while Lasell earns a first round bye to the November 1 Semifinals.
  • Saltamartini Tallies Career-High Nine Points to Lead Field Hockey over New England College, 7-1

    BOSTON, Mass. – Senior forward Julie Saltamartini (East Hampstead, N.H.) tallied a career-high nine points on four goals and an assist to lead the Simmons College field hockey team over visiting New England College, 7-1, this evening at Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks improve to 10-5 on the season to mark their fifth straight season with double-digit victories, while the Pilgrims fall to 6-10.

    WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College’s Lucy McNamara (Brewster, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Field Hockey Rookie of the Week for the week of October 9-15, it was announced today by the league. She has earned the award in back-to-back weeks and has been named the GNAC’s top rookie a conference-high three times, including the week of September 4-10.

    BOSTON, Mass. - The Simmons College field hockey team was unable to overcome a two-goal deficit in a 2-1 loss to visiting Saint Joseph's College (Maine) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest this afternoon at Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks fall to 9-5 overall and 5-1 in league play, while the Monks improve to 10-4 and 5-1.

    BOSTON, Mass. - The Simmons College field hockey team was defeated by visiting Mount Holyoke College, 2-0, this evening at Daly Field in Brighton, Mass. The Sharks' three-match win streak comes to an end as they fall to 9-4, while the Lyons extend their win streak to three in a row to improve to 8-4.

    WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College’s Lucy McNamara (Brewster, Mass.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Field Hockey Rookie of the Week for the week of October 2-8, it was announced today by the league. The honor marks the second time this season that McNamara has received the accolade, having been named both the GNAC’s top rookie and also goalkeeper for the week of September 4-10. She is the only player in the conference to have earned the Rookie of the Week award multiple times this season.

The Sharks have won eight of their last nine and improve to 9-3 overall, including a perfect 5-0 in league play, while the Raiders fall to 2-9 and 0-5.

    NEW LONDON, N.H. - Senior forward Julie Saltamartini (East Hampstead, N.H.) tallied a goal and recorded an assist to become Simmons College field hockey's all-time leading scorer with 139 points and lead the Sharks over host Colby-Sawyer College, 2-0, this afternoon at Veitch Turf Field in New London, N.H. Simmons has now won seven of its last eight matches and improves to 8-3 on the season, while the Chargers fall to 7-4 on the year.

The Sharks have won six of their last seven games and improve to 7-3 overall and 4-0 in league play, while the AMCATS fall to 3-8 and 1-3.

The Sharks win their fifth straight to improve to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in league play, while the Pride fall to 2-4 and 0-3.

It was the 2017 season opener for both teams as the Sharks dip to 0-1 and the Engineers improve to 1-0.
