BOSTON, Mass. – Senior forward Sammy Rondeau (Franklin, Mass.) scored a school-record five goals and added an assist for an 11-point night that also set a program standard to lead the Simmons College field hockey team over host Wheelock College, 8-0, this evening at Winsor Field in Boston, Mass. The Sharks improve to 3-2 on the season, while the Wildcats fall to 1-3. 

Simmons dominated the match, outshooting Wheelock, 37-0, while owning a 16-0 advantage on penalty corners. 

Rondeau scored the first four goals of the match for the Sharks, including three in a three-minute span. Her first tally came just 52 ticks into the contest, before scoring again on a feed from sophomore forward Olivia Trull (Lowell, Mass.) at the 2:40 mark. Rondeau found the back of the cage again just 73 seconds later off a penalty corner with Trull and junior midfielder Meghan Fontaine (Westminster, Mass.) assisting at 3:53. Rondeau took a feed from first year forwardSydney Hopkins (North Hampton, N.H.) to tie the school record with her fourth goal coming with 20:56 left in the opening half of play. Rondeau's record-breaking tally gave Simmons a 6-0 lead with 16:58 left to play in the second period. Rondeau assisted on the fifth marker of the night when she found junior forward Missie Maiewski (Northampton, Mass.) for her second goal of the year with 5:58 left in the first half. 

First year midfielder Delaney Conway (Derry, N.H.) notched her first collegiate goal for the Sharks with 11:27 left in the match on Fontaine's second assist of the night, before Maiewski sent a cross to the left side of the cage to a waiting Lily D'Anna (Woodstock, Vt.) for the first year's second goal of the season and the eighth and final tally of the night with 6:29 remaining in the contest. 

First year goalkeeper Lucy McNamara (Brewster, Mass.) played the first half to earn the victory for Simmons, before sophomore Danielle Francis (Oxford, Mass.) (18:02) and McKinley Croteau (Keene, N.H.) (16:58) split the second stanza in a combined shutout. Junior goalie Cassidy Smith (South Berwick, Maine) made nine saves for the Wildcats. 

The Sharks return to action on Saturday, September 16 when they host Great Northeast Athletic Conference rival Johnson & Wales University at Daly Field for an 11:00 a.m. start, while Wheelock hosts University of Maine Farmington on September 17 at 11:00 a.m.
