  • Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Team Award; Six Players Named Scholar Athletes

    TEMPE, Ariz. - The Simmons College Women's Tennis team received the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team award, while six Sharks were honored as Scholar-Athletes, it was announced by the ITA.
  • Tennis Falls to No. 14 Mary Washington, 5-0, in First Round of NCAA Tournament

    AMHERST, Mass. – The Simmons College women’s tennis team was defeated by No. 14 University of Mary Washington, 5-0, this morning in the First Round of the NCAA Championship Tournament on the Amherst Tennis Courts at host Amherst College in Amherst, Mass. The Sharks finish their season with a 10-9 record, while the Eagles win their fourth straight match to improve to 20-4 on the year. Mary Washington advances to play No. 8 Wesleyan University tomorrow in Amherst at 11:00 a.m.
  • Tennis to Face No. 14 Mary Washington in First Round of NCAA Tournament

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Simmons College women's tennis team will travel to Amherst, Mass. on Friday, May 13 to take on number 14 nationally-ranked University of Mary Washington at 9:00 a.m. on Amherst Tennis Courts in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament. The match will be played on the campus of Regional host Amherst College, which earned a first round bye as an at-large selection. The Sharks are one of 49 schools to compete for this year's National Championship.
  • Tennis Falls in Regular Season Finale at Endicott, 6-3; Cokely Reaches 30 Wins

    BEVERLY, Mass. - Senior Meg Cokely (Haverhill, Mass.) won her 30th combined match of the season as a double-winner for the Simmons College women's tennis team in a 6-3 loss to host Endicott College this morning on the South Campus Tennis Courts in Beverly, Mass. The Sharks fall to 10-8 on the season, while the Gulls improve to 14-3.

    WALTHAM, Mass. - The Simmons College women's tennis team was defeated by host Bentley University, 8-1, today in Waltham, Mass. The Sharks fall to 10-7, while the Falcons improve to 10-11 in their final dual match of the regular season.

    SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Simmons College women's tennis team's six-match win streak came to an end this afternoon in a 7-2 loss to host Springfield College at the Springfield Fieldhouse in Springfield, Mass. The Pride improve to 5-11 on the season, while the Sharks fall to 10-6.

  • Five Named to GNAC Women's Tennis All-Conference Team; Rauseo Named Coach of the Year

    WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College Head Women’s Tennis Coach Bob Rauseo was named the 2015 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year, while junior Theresa Reinhard (Canton, Ohio) and senior Meg Cokely (Haverhill, Mass.) were each selected to the GNAC First Team for both singles and doubles. Seniors Katie Crowley (Reading, Mass.) and Rachael Downey (Groveland, Mass.)along with junior Ashley Pierce (Carver, Mass.) were all tabbed to the GNAC Second Team for singles play.

    WINCHESTER, Mass. – Seniors Meg Cokely (Haverhill, Mass.) and Rachael Downey (Groveland, Mass.) were double winners to lead the top-seeded Simmons College women’s tennis team to a 5-0 victory over fourth-seeded University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) in the Semifinals of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship Tournament this afternoon at the Winchester Indoor Tennis Center in Winchester, Mass. The Sharks will play for the GNAC crown for the 12th straight year. Simmons has won seven straight conference championships and 10 of the last 11.

    NEWTON, Mass. - The Simmons College women's tennis team defeated host Mount Ida College, 9-0, this afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match in Newton, Mass. The Sharks have won six of their last seven matches and are not 7-5 on the season and finish the league regular season with a 6-0 mark to post an undefeated conference mark for the eighth straight year. Simmons extends its regular-season conference match win streak to 58 straight. The Sharks have not lost a GNAC match since a 6-3 loss to host Suffolk University on October 13, 2007. The Mustangs fall to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in league play.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Simmons College women’s tennis team surrendered just three games the entire day in a 9-0 victory over visiting Albertus Magnus College this afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match in Cambridge, Mass. on the campus of Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The Sharks have won five of their last six matches and improve to 6-5 overall and a perfect 5-0 in league play to clinch the number one seed in the GNAC Championship Tournament. Simmons extends its consecutive regular-season conference match win streak to 57 straight with the win. The Falcons fall to 6-4 and 1-3.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Four players were double winners as the Simmons College women’s tennis team defeated visiting Johnson & Wales University, 7-2, this afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest in Cambridge, Mass. at Harvard University’s Beren Tennis Center. The Sharks improve to 5-5 on the season and a perfect 4-0 in GNAC play to extend their consecutive regular-season conference match win streak to 56 in a row. The Wildcats fall to 8-2 and 3-1.
  • Cokely Becomes Combined Career Wins Leader for Tennis in 8-1 loss at Colby

    WATERVILLE, Maine - Senior Meg Cokely (Haverhill, Mass.) won at number two singles in an 8-1 loss to host Colby College to give her 95 (49 singles, 46 doubles) combined wins and become the Simmons College women's tennis program's all-time victories leader. The Sharks fall to 4-5 on the season, while the Mules improve to 2-0.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - First year Ashley Chen (Hilo, Hawaii) won a pair of matches on the day to lead the Simmons College women's tennis team to a 6-3 victory over host Suffolk University in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match this afternoon at Buckingham, Browne and Nichols School in Cambridge, Mass. The Sharks win their third straight match to improve to 4-4 overall and a perfect 3-0 in league play to extend their regular-season conference win streak to 55 in a row, while the Rams fall to 5-3 and 1-1.
  • Reinhard Named GNAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week Again

    WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College women’s tennis player Theresa Reinhard (Canton, Ohio) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week of September 14-20, it was announced today by the league. The honor marks the second time this season and the third for her career that she has earned the award. She was also named the GNAC’s top player for the week of August 31 to September 6.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No player dropped more than three games in singles action for the Simmons College women’s tennis team in a 9-0 victory over visiting University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) this afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match played in Cambridge on the campus of Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The Sharks win their second straight match to improve to 3-4 overall and 2-0 in league play and also extend their regular-season conference match win streak to 54 consecutive contests. The Blue Jays fall to 2-4 and 0-2.

The Sharks improve to 2-4 overall and 1-0 in league play, while the AMCATS fall to 1-4 and 0-1. Simmons extends its regular-season win streak over conference opponents to 53 straight.
