Senior Katie Crowley (Reading, Mass.) (1-1 singles, 1-1 doubles) and sophomore Mary Matthews (Wakefield, R.I.) (1-1 doubles) put the Sharks on the board with their first individual match win of the day in an 8-1 win at third doubles over Clark's junior Stephanie Gallant (Charlton, Mass.) and sophomore Emma Coppes (Muncy, Pa.). Junior Theresa Reinhard (Canton, Ohio) (2-0 singles, 2-0 doubles) and senior Meg Cokely (Haverhill, Mass.) (2-0 singles, 2-0 doubles) paired up at number one doubles to earn an 8-2 victory for Simmons over the home team's first year combo of Emily Shuman (Needham, Mass.) and Adrien Horowitz (Arvada, Colo.). Senior Rachael Downey (Groveland, Mass.) (1-1 singles, 1-1 doubles) combined with first year Ashley Chen (Hilo, Hawaii) (1-1 singles, 1-1 doubles) to give the Sharks a sweep in doubles action, courtesy of an 8-6 decision over Clark seniors Kera Snyder (South Portland, Maine) and senior Rebecca Kravetz (Wayland, Mass.).

Simmons took a 4-0 lead after junior Ashley Pierce (Carver, Mass.) (1-1 singles) made quick work of sophomore Bichtroan Nguyen (Worcester, Mass.) in a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at sixth singles.

Cokely clinched the match for the Sharks and took one step closer to history in the process. The Captain earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at second singles over the Cougars' Snyder and earned her 87th combined victory to tie Margaret Teague (2010-14) for second on the school's career list, while also tying Kendra Currier (2004-08) for the most singles wins in school annals with 46.

Crowley won at number three singles over Kravetz, 6-0, 6-2 to give Simmons a 6-0 lead and Chen earned her first collegiate singles triumph at fifth singles over sophomore Misa Mai (Sanford, Maine) with a 6-1, 6-0 showing. Downey pulled out a three-set victory at fourth singles for the Sharks, beating Horowitz, 6-4, 1-6, 10-6. Reinhard capped the day with a 6-4, 7-6 (2) win at first singles over Shuman.

Simmons returns to the court on Monday, September 7 when it hosts Mount Holyoke College at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology courts in Cambridge, Mass. at 12:00 p.m., while Clark hosts Babson College on September 12 at 1:00 p.m.
