Reinhard Named GNAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. - Simmons College women's tennis player Theresa Reinhard (Canton, Ohio) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of August 31 to September 6. The honor marks the second time in her career that she has received the award.

WINTHROP, Mass. - Simmons College women's tennis player Theresa Reinhard (Canton, Ohio) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of August 31 to September 6. The honor marks the second time in her career that she has received the award.

Reinhard posted a perfect combined 4-0 record in two matches, including a 2-0 mark in both singles and doubles play. The junior did not drop a set in either of her singles matches. She began the week by combining with senior Meg Cokely (Haverhill, Mass.) to win at number one doubles at Roger Williams University, 8-6, on September 2. The Saint Thomas Aquinas High School product later won a 6-0, 6-2 effort at first singles vs. RWU. Reinhard capped the week by pairing with Cokely to earn an 8-2 win at first doubles at Clark University and showed some gusto in a 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) victory at number one singles, where she came back from being down, 5-2, in the second set to win the frame and the match. 

A Co-Captain for the Sharks, she is a combined 5-1 on the season, including a perfect 3-0 in doubles action.

She owns a career combined mark of 50-43, including 27-18 in doubles play. Reinhard currently ranks 11th on the school's career list for combined victories, ninth for doubles win and 13th with 23 singles victories. She burst onto the scene as the GNAC Rookie of the Year in 2013-14 and went on to earn a spot on the GNAC First Team that season. Reinhard earned First Team honors for her singles play last year and was named to the Second Team for doubles. Simmons has posted a 32-13 record during her tenure with the program and has won a pair of conference championships in addition to a pair of NCAA Tournament wins.

The Sharks are currently 1-2 on the season and return to the court on Wednesday, September 9 when they travel to Babson Park, Mass. to take on Babson College at 3:30 p.m.
