  • Gators Defeat Simmons, 65-63

    CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Pine Manor senior Therline Dumeran (Cambridge, MA) collected a game-high 17 rebounds, while also scoring 12 points, to surpass 500 rebounds in her career as Pine Manor College defeated the Simmons Sharks, 65-63, on Saturday afternoon at Brunelli Court in Chestnut Hill, MA. The Gators were also led by senior Paulette Wright, who poured in a game-high 19 points to help Pine Manor (8-15, 2-11 GNAC) earn its second Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory of the season. With the loss Simmons ends its 2011-12 season with a 4-20 overall record (1-12 GNAC).

    BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Basketball had five players in double digits as the Sharks defeated the Fisher College Falcons 93-24, Tuesday evening at the Holmes Sports Center. Junior Liz O’Connor (Milton, Mass.) posted a game high 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Sharks to victory in the team’s final home game of the season.

    BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons Basketball fell to rival Emerson College, 63-51 Saturday afternoon, as the Sharks and Lions honored Kay Yow in the annual Great Northeast Athletic Conference’s Play for Kay match up. The Sharks celebrated the team’s three seniors, Brittany Dolloff (Hollis, N.H.), Alex Acloque (Randolph, Mass.) and Jessica Thomas (Sandwich, Mass.) prior to the game for their hard work and contributions to Simmons athletics.
  • Cadets Outshoot Sharks in Final Seconds For Conference Win

    NORTHFIELD, VT. – The Norwich University Cadets hit their final three free throws to overturn a late deficit and pick up a key Great Northeast Athletic Conference win against the Simmons Sharks Tuesday evening. The Cadets, improving to 10-13 overall and 5-6 in the league, trailed visiting Simmons (3-18, 1-10 GNAC) 62-46 with under six minutes left. From that point, the Maroon and Gold brought their home crowd inside Andrews Gymnasium to its feet with a 22-3 run to end the game with a 68-65 win.

The Saints, who never trailed in the contest, improve to 13-6 overall and remain unbeaten in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference at 7-0 while the Sharks fall to 3-15 and 1-7 in GNAC play.

Alexis Chappell (Springfield, Mass.) led the way for the Lasers scoring with 20 points and adding ten rebounds, with Danielle Auntencio (Montville, Conn.) chipping in thirteen points for the home team.

Simmons improves to 3-11 (1-3 GNAC) on the season while AMC drops to 5-10 (1-3 GNAC).

Jenna Juron posted a team high 19 points as the Wildcats picked up their first GNAC win of the season.

Mount Ida was strong all over the court shooting 43 percent from the floor and 38 percent from downtown.

Freshman Mari Kordell (Ijamsville, Md.) led all scorers with 23 points as the Engineers improved to 7-3 on the year. Senior Brittany Dolloff (Hollis, N.H.), one of four Sharks to reach double-digits in scoring, posted 15 points and four steals for the visitors (1-7).
