Sharks Fall to Lasers in GNAC Championship, 2-0November 04, 2012NEWTON, Mass. – The Lasell College women’s soccer team earned their third straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship with a 2-0 victory over the Simmons Sharks Sunday afternoon. The second seeded Lasers used a pair of second half goals and some stout defending to defeat the fourth seeded Sharks and earn the GNAC automatic bid. Lasell stands at 14-4-1 on the season, while Simmons fell to 11-8-1.

The Sharks advance to the GNAC soccer championship game after winning the penalty kick shootout, 4-2.

Simmons put together a two-goal first half and it was all the Sharks would need to top the host Saints, as they improved to 8-6 on the season and 7-3 in GNAC play. With their victory, the Sharks halted the Saints’ four-game win streak and spree of three-straight shutouts, as Emmanuel fell to 9-5-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the league.
