BOSTON, Mass. -- On Saturday, April 13th Simmons Soccer held its annual alumnae game. The Sharks welcomed alumnae from as far back as the Class of 2004 as they joined the current senior class to compete against the returning team.
The match kicked off at 4:30 p.m. on the Winsor School Field and it was the current Simmons team that scored first. Rookie Victoria Russo (Braintree, Mass.) buried her first shot to put the team up 1-0. It wouldn't be until the second half when graduating senior, Jennifer Prescott (Cambridge, Vt.) would collect a pass on the left flank from her outside back position. Prescott settled the ball and fired it from 25 yards out with her left foot to settle the score at 1-1. Both sides battled it out for the remaining minutes but neither could convert any chances.
"The alumnae game has become one of my favorite parts of spring season. Getting the alumnae back on campus and seeing how they have matured and where they are at in their careers is exciting. Once they put on that Simmons Soccer t-shirt it is as if they never left," said Head Coach Erica Mastrogiacomo.
This event is a great way for the current student-athletes to network with our alumnae; many of whom are working in the field in which our athletes are aspiring to be.
