Jordan Muse's 14th-minute goal proved to be the lone marker of the opening half, which came off a penalty kick following a visitor handball. The second frame was a different story, as the Lyons rattled off four goals during a 14:07 stretch to put the game out of reach.

Wheaton's final two goals came just 1:29 apart, including when freshman Alyssa Gilman headed home a corner offering from sophomore Laila Razzaghi for her first collegiate goal.

Freshman goalie Ali Hinton made four saves in 71:45 for the win, while Simmons freshmen Briana Hayes (Manorville, N.Y.) and Amber Verrill (Windham, Maine) combined for three saves.

Taking the game's five corner kicks, the hosts also held a 19-5 advantage in shots.

On Saturday, the Lyons return to New England Women's and Men's Athletic (NEWMAC) play against visiting Mount Holyoke College at 1:00 p.m, while the Sharks return to Great Northeast Athletic Conference Action on Saturday at Mount Ida College.
