Five Sharks Receive 2012 GNAC Soccer All-Conference Honors

NORTON, Mass. ? The Wheaton College women?s soccer team held its opponent scoreless for the second-straight contest as the Lyons defeated Simmons College, 3-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening at Mirrione Stadium.

Senior midfielder Justine Beauchamp (Exeter, N.H.), junior midfielder Desh Perera (Reading, Mass.) and freshman defender Issy Verrilli (Naugatuck, Conn.) were all named to the All-Conference First Team, while junior defender Katie McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine) received Second Team honors. Senior forward Ally Ayotte (Litchfield, N.H.) was named to the All-Conference Third Team and freshman goalkeeper Amber Verrill (Windham, Maine) was named to the GNAC Sportsmanship Team. Beauchamp, Perera and Verrilli were also named to the 2012 GNAC All-Tournament Team.

The Sharks knocked off No. 1 seeded University of Saint Joseph in the GNAC semifinals on Thursday but fell to the Lasell College Lasers in the Championship game on Sunday afternoon.

The No. 4 Sharks will host No. 5 seed Colby-Sawyer in the ECAC Women's Soccer Tournament on Wednesday, November 7th at 7:00 p.m. at Regis College.
