  • Field Hockey Receives NFHCA Honors

    Simmons Field Hockey was named a 2010 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Academic Team, and eight athletes were named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad. The Sharks were recognized for achieving a team GPA of 3.00 or higher in the fall semester, while each athlete named to the Academic Squad earned a 3.30 or better in the fall 2010 semester.
  • Field Hockey 2010 Season Review

    Simmons Field Hockey wrapped up their fall 2010 season with the first trip to the North Atlantic Conference tournament the Sharks have taken in two years. Under first year Head Coach Amanda Maxwell, Simmons fought to a 6-11 overall record and 2-5 NAC record. Despite being knocked out of the tournament in the quarterfinals, the Sharks are ready to continue elevating the program in 2011.
  • Sharks Eliminated From NAC Tournament After Quarterfinal Loss

    Sixth-seeded Simmons Field Hockey was defeated by third-seeded University of Maine at Farmington, 6-1, in North Atlantic Conference field hockey first-round action Saturday at Prescott Field. With the loss, the Sharks end their season with a 6-11 record, while the Beavers (12-5) are scheduled to visit No. 2 Husson University in the NAC semifinals on Wednesday.
  • Sharks Prepare for NAC Field Hockey Tournament

    Simmons Field Hockey returns to the 2010 North Atlantic Conference post-season tournament after a two-year dry spell. The Sharks will travel to face off against the University of Maine-Farmington on Saturday, October 30 at 11:00am. Simmons’ last trip was in 2007, when the team exited the tournament after the quarterfinal round.
  • Sharks sink WPI with a Penalty Stroke from Tighe, 2-1

    Simmons Field Hockey defeated visiting WPI on Tuesday night, 2-1, after a scoreless first half pushed both teams to seal the deal in the second period. Junior Katelyn Tighe (Easton, Mass.) scored the game-winner for the Sharks in their last contest of the regular season.
  • Sharks Fall to Monks, 5-1

    Monks senior Kayla Nowell tallied two goals and a pair of assists in a 5-1 Saint Joseph’s (10-3, 5-0 NAC) victory over Simmons College (5-8, 2-4 NAC) in a North Atlantic Conference Field Hockey match at Lakeside Field on Sunday afternoon.
  • Sharks Hit by Husson, 6-1

    Simmons Field Hockey was defeated by Husson Univerity, 6-1, in North Atlantic Conference action at Husson’s Winkin Complex on Friday. Six different Eagles scored to lift the team to a 6-4 (4-1 NAC) record. With the loss, Simmons falls to 3-6 (1-2 NAC).
  • Sharks Blaze Past Elms, 6-0

    Simmons Field Hockey defeated non-conference Elms College 6-0 Wednesday night at home. Sophomore Brigid Rushe (Belmont, Mass.) led the Sharks with 2 goals on the night. With the win, Simmons improves to 4-6 overall, while the Blazers drop to 0-9 on the season.
  • Terriers Nip Sharks, 3-2

    Simmons Field Hockey was defeated at home on Saturday, 3-2, by North Atlantic Conference opponent Thomas College. Freshman Monica Doucette (Rockport, Maine) scored twice for the Sharks, but it was not enough to push past the Terriers. With the loss, Simmons drops to 3-5 overall (1-1 NAC) while Thomas advances to 3-6 overall (1-1 NAC).

    Simmons freshman Monica Doucette (Rockport, Maine) was named the field hockey Rookie of the Week by the North Atlantic Conference on Monday.
  • Sharks Fall to Wheaton, 6-1
    September 26, 2010
    Simmons Field Hockey was overpowered by Wheaton College, 6-1, on Sunday, September 26 at home. Sophomore Zoie Kaley (Manchester, Maine) scored the lone goal for the Sharks with 25:08 remaining in the second half. The loss brings Simmons to 3-4 overall (1-0 NAC), and with the win, the Lyons advance to 8-2 (2-0 NEWMAC).
  • Sharks Capture Lasers in NAC Battle, 3-2

    Two late second half goals lifted Simmons Field Hockey over Lasell College in a 3-2 victory Saturday’s North Atlantic Conference contest. In the defeat, Lasell falls to 3-5 overall, 0-2 in the league, while Simmons equalizes at 3-3, and earns their first NAC victory of the season.
  • Sharks Shut Out Wildcats, 9-0

    Simmons Field Hockey romped to their second shutout of the season, 9-0, over Pay Path College on Saturday at home. Freshman TJ Cowin (Newry Maine) led the Simmons offense with 3 goals and 2 assists on the day to boost the team to 2-2 overall, while Bay Path fell to 0-3 on the season.
  • Field Hockey Falls to Lyons, 5-0

    Simmons Field Hockey was defeated, 5-0, to Mount Holyoke College on Saturday, September 11 at the Mount Holyoke Turf Field. With their third consecutive victory over the Sharks, the Lyons improved to 2-0 on the year, while Simmons falls to 1-2.
  • Sharks Ousted by Engineers, 7-1

    Simmons Field Hockey was defeated by non-conference visitors MIT, 7-1, on Thursday night in the Sharks’ home opener. The Engineers advance to 4-0 on the season, while Simmons falls to 1-1 (0-0 NAC).
  • Field Hockey Collects Win Over Regis, 3-0

    Marianna Brown (Newton, N.H.) had two goals in Simmons Field Hockey’s 3-0 victory over nearby Regis College on Monday night’s season opener. TJ Cowin (Newry, Maine) tallied the first goal of the game at the 7:26 mark. The Sharks (1-0 overall, 0-0 NAC) outshot the Pride 33-0 to take their first win of the 2010 season.
