Sharks Blaze Past Elms, 6-0

Simmons Field Hockey defeated non-conference Elms College 6-0 Wednesday night at home. Sophomore Brigid Rushe (Belmont, Mass.) led the Sharks with 2 goals on the night. With the win, Simmons improves to 4-6 overall, while the Blazers drop to 0-9 on the season.

Simmons Field Hockey defeated non-conference Elms College 6-0 Wednesday night at home. Sophomore Brigid Rushe (Belmont, Mass.) led the Sharks with 2 goals on the night. With the win, Simmons improves to 4-6 overall, while the Blazers drop to 0-9 on the season.

The Blazers defense held Simmons to just one goal in the first half, scored by Freshman TJ Cowin (Newry, Maine), assisted by Courtney Joachim (Concord, Mass.).

In the second half, junior Katelyn Tighe (Easton, Mass.) had two assists and one goal for the Sharks. Senior Kara Masse (Portland, Maine) and sophomore Marianna Brown (Newton, N.H.) tallied one goal apiece in the second half.

Freshman goalkeeper Renna Smith (Belfast, Maine) earned her third shutout this season in 70 minutes of play.

Simmons will travel to Husson University for a NAC matchup on Friday, October 8 at 5:00pm. Elms will travel to Becker for a 1:00pm. match on Saturday October 9.
