Sharks Ousted by Engineers, 7-1

The MIT defense held Simmons to just seven shots, three of them on goal, throughout the evening, while peppering the Sharks keeper with 16 shots, 11 of them on goal. First Year keeper Renna Smith (Belfast, Maine) made four saves for Simmons in 70 minutes of play. Sophomore Zoie Kaley (Manchester, Maine) found the back of the net, assisted by Lee Sutherland (Tuftonboro, N.H.) for Simmons' lone goal.

Sophomore Kimberly Barker did most of the damage for MIT, scoring twice in the first half and once in the second half of the night. Teammates Katie Kauffman, Maddy Wharton and Molly Duffy and Danielle Smith each scored once to bring the tally to seven.

MIT Keeper Keri Dixon was well protected by her defensive line, making just one save and allowing one goal.

The Sharks will next travel to face off against Mount Holyoke on Saturday, September 11 at 1:00pm, while MIT will travel to Washington College (Md.) for an 11:00am match on the same day.
