  • Sharks Earn 2010-11 GNAC Academic All-Conference Honors

    The Great Northeast Athletic Conference recognized 598 student-athletes from 16 league sports on the 2010-11 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference Team. 46 Simmons athletes received the honor, and all seven of the Simmons varsity programs sponsored by the GNAC were represented on this year’s Academic All-Conference Team.
  • Volleyball 2010 Season Review

    Simmons Volleyball ended the 2010 season with a 6-17 season record (4-8 GNAC). Junior Meaghan Flynn (Laguna Beach, Calif.) received a spot on the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Third Team—her third postseason honor in three years, while freshman Sandy Lor (Fitchburg, Mass.) earned a place on the GNAC Sportsmanship Team.
  • Sharks Topped by Saints, 3-0

    The Emmanuel College women’s volleyball team defeated Simmons College, 3-0 on Tuesday evening at the Jean Yawkey Center in Boston, Mass. The Saints improved to 11-13 on the season while Simmons dropped to 4-16.
  • Sharks Nix Nighthawks, 3-2

    Simmons Volleyball defeated Newbury College in five sets on Thursday night, 3-2. Senior Taylor Pederson (San Antonio, Texas) helped the Sharks stave off a Nighthawk comeback with a game-high 13 kills in the match. The Nighthawks fall to 3-10 in the loss while Simmons improves to 2-11 with the victory.
  • Sharks Defeated by JWU, 3-1

    Simmons volleyball fell to top-ranked Great Northeast Athletic Conference foe Johnson and Wales University on Tuesday night, 3-1. The Sharks dropped the first two sets against the Wildcats, 20-25 and 17-25, fought back to win a 25-22 decision in the third, then lost the fourth set, 17-25. With the defeat, Simmons drops to 1-12 overall (0-3 GNAC) while JWU rises to 13-8 (5-0 GNAC).
  • Volleyball Drops Two to Monks and Colonials

    Simmons traveled to Great Northeast Athletic Conference host Saint Joseph’s Maine on Saturday for a tri-match with the Monks and Western Connecticut State. The Sharks dropped both games on the day, and fall to 1-10 on the season (0-1 GNAC).
  • Cardinals Top the Sharks, 3-0

    Non-conference visitors North Central College topped the Sharks on Friday at home in three straight sets (25-13, 25-16,25-16). Simmons junior Krista Evans (Killen, Ala.) led the team with 14 total attacks, six kills, two aces and two solo blocks, while freshman Megan Chamberlin (Milford, Mass.) had a team-high 16 assists and three blocks. With the loss, Simmons Volleyball moves to 2-0 on the season (0-0 GNAC), while the Cardinals improve to 1-0.
  • Sharks Fall to WPI in Season Opener, 3-0

    Simmons Volleyball fell in three straight sets to WPI on Wednesday night in the Sharks’ season opener. Junior Meaghan Flynn (Laguna Beach, Calif.) led the way for Simmons, narrowly missing a double-double with 10 kills and nine digs. The Engineers won the match by scores of 25-22, 25-13, 25-22. With the loss, Simmons stands at 0-1 overall (0-0 GNAC), while WPI advances to 1-0 overall.
  • Volleyball 2010 Season Preview

    Simmons Volleyball is preparing for the 2010 season after a successful 2009 campaign. The Sharks ended last season with an appearance in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament, reaching the quarterfinals after a 13-15 season (7-5 GNAC), and tying the program record for most wins in a regular season (13). Led by fourth-year Head Coach Jason Conetta, the Sharks hope to solidify the program after three years of rapid growth, and finish in the top four of the GNAC tournament in 2010.
