  • Sharks Earn 2010-11 GNAC Academic All-Conference Honors

    The Great Northeast Athletic Conference recognized 598 student-athletes from 16 league sports on the 2010-11 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference Team. 46 Simmons athletes received the honor, and all seven of the Simmons varsity programs sponsored by the GNAC were represented on this year’s Academic All-Conference Team.
  • Swimming & Diving 2010-11 Season Review

    Simmons Swimming & Diving closes out the 2010-11 season with another Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship title, the team’s ninth win in ten years. The Sharks struggled with some first semester losses, but returned from their January training trip to Puerto Rico strong and hungry for wins. The Sharks lost their first battle with Mount Holyoke, but went on to win the remainder of the second semester dual meets, finishing 5-5. The season culminated at New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships (NEISDA) with 14 individual qualifiers accumulating 376.5 points to finish in 13th place.
  • Sharks Place 13th, Earn Sportsmanship Award at NEISDA

    Simmons Swimming and Diving swam to a 13th place team points finish at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Championships this weekend at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center. Out of 32 individual Simmons entries, 27 athletes had season-best times, culminating in a new school record of 56.15 in the 100 Free by freshman Jen Collins (Trumbull, Conn.). Simmons also took home the Steve Looke Sportsmanship Award, which is awarded after a vote by all NEISDA coaches.
  • Sharks Defeat WNEC, 159-106

    Simmons Swimming and Diving swam to a strong win against Western New England College, 159-106, on Saturday morning. The victory comes at a time when the Sharks are looking for competitive team performances before entering the post-season and racing at New Englands.
  • Sharks Float Past Monks, 145-94
    January 22, 2011
    Simmons Swimming and Diving cruised to a 145-94 Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory over visiting Saint Joseph’s College of Maine on Saturday. Senior diver Amanda Dirksmeier (Marshfield, Mass.) set a new pool and school record of 237.15 in the 3-Meter diving, besting her old mark, set in 2010, by more than 10 points.
  • Sharks Defeated by Lyons, 175-119

    Simmons Swimming & Diving dropped their first meet of the new year to host Mount Holyoke College, 175-119. Senior Amanda Dirksmeier (Marshfield, Mass.), swept the diving events with scores of 210.45 off the one-meter board and 221.70 off the three-meter board to earn 18 point for the Sharks.
  • Simmons Captures 2010 GNAC Swimming & Diving Championship

    The Sharks of Simmons College took home their ninth Great Northeast Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving title in ten years in Sunday night’s finale of the two-day championship event. Simmons finished the meet with 270 points, ahead of Elms (216), Saint Joseph CT (206), Saint Joseph’s ME (76), Norwich (75) and Husson (54). Nine GNAC records fell over the course of the meet, which featured 100 athletes from the six GNAC teams.
  • Sharks Fall to Beavers, 170-129

    Simmons Swimming and Diving fell to Babson College in the Sharks’ home opener on Tuesday night, 170-129. Despite the loss, Simmons turned in some fast swims and are looking strong as they prepare to compete in this weekend’s Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships.
  • Sharks to Swim Hour of Power for Sarcoma Awareness

    Simmons Swimming & Diving is set to participate in the fifth annual Hour of Power Relay, a nationwide swimming event held annually to raise cancer awareness, on Thursday, November 11, 2010. The Sharks will dive into the pool at 8:00am, simultaneously with a projected 6,000 college athletes from across the nation, spanning all NCAA divisions.
  • Sharks Edged by Blazers, 137-120

    Simmons Swimming & Diving was defeated on the road by host Elms College, 137-120, on Saturday’s Great Northeast Athletic Conference meet, the Sharks’ first of the season. The Blazers saw eight program records drop, five of them individual performances by freshmen, in their victory.
  • Sharks Fall to Westfield State in Season Opener

    Simmons Swimming and Diving opened their 2010-11 season on Saturday with a loss to Westfield State, 156-128. Despite the loss, the Sharks swam well, and with their first meet out of the way are ready to tackle their November schedule.
  • Swimming & Diving 2010-11 Season Preview

    Simmons Swimming & Diving is poised to open their season after a very successful 2009-10 campaign. The team defended their Great Northeast Athletic Conference title by winning their sixth consecutive Championship. Simmons went on to finish 8th of 22 teams at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Championship, the highest finish for the Sharks since 2003. The Sharks also shattered seven school records and four pool records.
