Hornak Earns All-GNAC Second Team Honors at GNAC Championship Meet

STANDISH, Maine – Senior runner Sara Hornak earned All-GNAC Second Team honors as she headlined Simmons cross country at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship Meet on Saturday afternoon.

Competing on a tough, hilly terrain on the campus of Saint Joseph's College of Maine, Hornak finish 12th with a time of 28:38.7. First-year runner Hannah Bergeron posted the best finish by a Simmons first-year since 2018 and fifth top time in the last 10 years, crossing the finish line with a time of 29:43.7. Additionally, Hornak was also named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team. 

Not far off the pace was fellow first-year Repoli, who recorded the third-best finish by Sharks first-year in the last five years. Placing 33rd, Repoli crossed the finish line with a time of 31:45.1. 

As a team, the Sharks finished sixth in the championship meet overall, with team score of 125.

OTHER SIMMONS RUNNERS

  • First-year Caroline Fleischhauer posted the fourth best finish by a first-year at the GNAC meet with a time of 32:49.0.
  • First-year Julia Pellegrino reorded the fifth best finish by a first-year at the GNAC meet with a time of 32:52.0.
  • First-year Neeva Manandhar crossed the finish line with a time of 33:16.1.
  • Sophomore Beth Pennington finished with a time of 34:34.0.

Simmons returns to the course next week, Saturday, November 11, with the NCAA Division III Regional Championship in Rindge, New Hampshire at noon.
