BOSTON – Returning to the course for the second time this season, Simmons cross country competed in the 55th Annual Codfish Bowl 5K Race held at Franklin Park on Saturday afternoon.
In a field of over 200 runners, senior Sara Hornak led the Sharks, crossing the finish line with a time of 24:21. First year runner Katie Repoli cut three seconds from her previous mile time this season as the second Shark runner to cross the finish line with at time 25:41.
Right on the heels of Repoli was fellow first year Hannah Bergeron, who finished two seconds behind her classmate with a time of 25:43. Fellow first year Nolin Darling was next, pacing herself at an 8:25 clip, she finished in 26:04.
OTHER SIMMONS RUNNERS
- First year Caroline Fleischhauer finished with a time of 27:16 in her first collegiate race
- First year Neeva Manandhar bested her mile time from Suffolk Short course, running an 8:57 mile.
- Sophomore Beth Pennington also eclipsed her season-best mile time, running an 8:59-minute mile to finish in 27:51
