Cross Country Continues to Improve at the 55th USATF Codfish Bowl

BOSTON  Returning to the course for the second time this season, Simmons cross country competed in the 55th Annual Codfish Bowl 5K Race held at Franklin Park on Saturday afternoon.

In a field of over 200 runners, senior Sara Hornak led the Sharks, crossing the finish line with a time of 24:21. First year runner Katie Repoli cut three seconds from her previous mile time this season as the second Shark runner to cross the finish line with at time 25:41.

Right on the heels of Repoli was fellow first year Hannah Bergeron, who finished two seconds behind her classmate with a time of 25:43. Fellow first year Nolin Darling was next, pacing herself at an 8:25 clip, she finished in 26:04.

OTHER SIMMONS RUNNERS

  • First year Caroline Fleischhauer finished with a time of 27:16 in her first collegiate race
  • First year Neeva Manandhar bested her mile time from Suffolk Short course, running an 8:57 mile.
  • Sophomore Beth Pennington also eclipsed her season-best mile time, running an 8:59-minute mile to finish in 27:51
