Cross Country Places First in Elms College Blazer Invitational

CHICOPEE, Mass. – In its first meet of the year, Simmons cross country placed first at the Elms College Blazer Invitational on Saturday morning. The Sharks finished with a total of 30 points - 13 points ahead of second place Regis College, who placed second in the women's race.

Simmons had four runners finish in the top five. Senior Alice Najimy led the way placing second, crossing the finish line with a time of 24:14 in the 6K race. Fellow senior Chloe O'Hara was not far off placing fourth with a time of 26:05, while Nick Beaulieu was three seconds behind at 24:08 – good for a time of 26:08.  

Sophomores Sarah Giuliano and Sarah Cain placed 11th and 12th respectively with times of 28:33 and 28:34 as junior Clare Thompson was 14th, crossing with a time of 28:55. Senior Elena Dickey rounded out the Sharks who scored for the team, finishing 16th at 29:37.
