Najimy Places Sixth to Lead Cross Country at Worcester City Meet

PAXTON, Mass. -- First year Alice Najimy (Pittsfield, Mass.) finished sixth in her collegiate debut to lead the Simmons University women's cross country team to a fourth-place effort this morning at the Worcester City Meet at Moore State Park in Paxton, Mass.

BOSTON, Mass. -- First year Alice Najimy (Pittsfield, Mass.) broke the 20-minute barrier and placed 15th overall to lead the Simmons University women's cross country team to a ninth-place finish at the 38th Annual Women's Codfish Bowl at historic Franklin Park in Dorchester, Mass.

PAXTON, Mass. -- First year Alice Najimy (Pittsfield, Mass.) finished sixth in her collegiate debut to lead the Simmons University women's cross country team to a fourth-place effort this morning at the Worcester City Meet at Moore State Park in Paxton, Mass.

The Sharks tallied 91 points in the six kilometer race, while Worcester Polytechnic Institute won the meet with a score of 25 points. WPI junior Sydney Packard (Georgetown, Mass.) led the Engineers, winning the individual crown with a time of 23:41.

Najimy averaged a 4:16 kilometer time as part of a final mark of 25:33 to lead Simmons. Senior Samantha Jaffe (Fayetteville, N.Y.) finished 10th overall for the Sharks with a time of 26:11, while junior Gabby Freeman (Newnan, Ga.) clocked in at 29:45 to place 35th with senior Carol Figueiredo (Norwood, Mass.) not far behind at 30:22 to finish 36th. 

Sophomore Chloe O'Hara (Westminster, Mass.) made her Simmons debut with a mark of 30:32 just ahead of senior Hannah Green's (Blandford, Mass.) time of 30:36 with the pair finishing 39th and 40th, respectively. Junior Amelia Franklin (Bath, Maine) rounded out the Sharks' showing with a time of 31:02 to finish 42nd.

Simmons returns to action on Saturday, September 22 when it competes in the 38th Annual Women's Codfish Bowl at historic Franklin Park in Dorchester, Mass.
