Cross Country Finishes First Among Division III Teams at Codfish Bowl

BOSTON, Mass. - Sophomore Sarah Bohan (Guilford, Conn.) was among five runners to finish in the top 20 among NCAA Division III schools for Simmons College, leading the Sharks to a top showing among D-III institutions this morning at the 36th Annual Women's Codfish Bowl at historic Franklin Park in Dorchester, Mass.

BOSTON, Mass. - Sophomore Sarah Bohan (Guilford, Conn.) was among five runners to finish in the top 20 among NCAA Division III schools for Simmons College, leading the Sharks to a top showing among D-III institutions this morning at the 36th Annual Women's Codfish Bowl at historic Franklin Park in Dorchester, Mass. 

Simmons finished fifth among all teams, including non-collegiate squads, with 160 points. The Sharks placed second among collegiate teams with only Division II Merrimack College finishing ahead of them with 91 points.

Bohan placed 24th among all competitors, 13th among collegiate runners and seventh against Division III competition with a time of 20:10 in her first collegiate five kilometer race. Graduate student Kara MacLean (Braintree, Mass.) placed 20th among collegiate runners and 10th in Division III with a time of 20:23, while sophomore Samantha Jaffe (Fayetteville, N.Y.) placed 25th and 12th with a mark of 20:40. Senior Mia DeLuccia (Lynnfield, Mass.) turned in a time of 21:12 to knock 36 seconds off her personal-record time and finish 41st and 17th. First year Emily Freeman (Haverhill, Mass.) was Simmons' fifth-top finisher in her first collegiate 5K, coming in right behind DeLuccia with a time of 21:13 to place 43rd and 19th and round out the scoring for the Sharks.

First year Kearsten Pichette (Hooksett, N.H.) was 10 seconds off Freeman's pace and finished 47th/21st, while junior Allegra Egizi (Beverly, Mass.) posted a time of 21:29 to finish six seconds behind Pichette and log a 50th-place showing among collegians and 22nd-place effort among Division III runners. First year Emily Josephson (Rochester, Mass.) wasn't far behind, crossing the line 10 seconds later in her first collegiate 5K to finish 53rd and 24th. Senior Sara Harland (Pembroke, Mass.) was a step behind to become the ninth Simmons runner to register a sub-22 minute time with a mark of 21:40 to place 54th and 25th. 

Senior Bethanie Royality-Lindman (Wakefield, R.I.) clocked in at 22:11 (68th/32nd), while sophomore Hannah Green (Blandford, Mass.) recorded a time of 22:28 in her first college 5K to finish 73rd/35th. Sophomore Carol Figueiredo (Norwood, Mass.) made the best improvement on her personal-record time with a mark of 23:13 to cut 37 seconds off her previous best, while first year Amelia Franklin (Bath, Maine) turned in a time of 23:44 for her first collegiate 5K. Senior Hannah Hast (Bow, N.H.) crossed the line at 26:08 and sophomore Kathryn Nagle (Bangor, Maine) shaved 32 seconds off her personal-record mark with a time of 26:19.

The Sharks will compete again on October 8 when they return to Franklin Park to compete in the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Championship at 11:00 a.m.
