WATERFORD, Conn. - The Simmons College women's cross country team saw six of its seven competitors turn in personal-record times to lead the Sharks to a 32nd-place finish today at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, Conn. Connecticut College hosted the meet. Simmons placed 46th last season.

The Sharks scored 961 points to place 32nd in the six-kilometer race, while Williams College won the team title with a total of 44 points. Massachusetts Institute of Technology junior Maryann Gong (Livermore, Calif.) captured the individual crown with a time of 21:36.3.

Senior Kara MacLean (Braintree, Mass.) closed out her career by finishing 139th overall with a mark of 24:14.8 to shave nine seconds off her personal-record time in a 6K race for Simmons. First year Samantha Jaffe (Fayetteville, N.Y.) capped her outstanding rookie campaign by placing 160th and clipping seven seconds off her personal-best time in the 6K with a mark of 24:33.3. Sophomore Allegra Egizi (Beverly, Mass.) bested her personal-record time by 29 seconds with a time of 24:47 to finish 176th.

Junior Sara Harland (Pembroke, Mass.) bettered her previous top 6K time by 34 seconds, clocking in at 25:23.6 to place 213th. Junior Madison Rivard (Sharon, Mass.) rounded out the Sharks' scoring contingent with a time of 26:20 to shatter her previous best effort by 74 seconds in a 6K race and placed 273rd.

Junior Bethanie Royality-Lindman (Wakefield, R.I.) finished 305th for Simmons with a time of 27:05.5 and senior Alicia Morales (Uxbridge, Mass.) wasn't far behind in the last race of her career, finishing 320th with a time of 27:27.2 to post a personal-record time that was 34 seconds faster than her previous best 6K mark.
