Cross Country Competes at Seven Sisters Championship

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Senior Kara MacLean (Braintree, Mass.) finished 28th and senior Cortney Hanrahan (Southampton, Mass.) improved on last year's race time by over three and a half minutes to help the Simmons College women's cross country team to a seventh-place finish on the six-kilometer course at the Seven Sister's Championship at Haverford College in Haverford, Pa. The race was hosted by Bryn Mawr College.

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Senior Kara MacLean (Braintree, Mass.) finished 28th and senior Cortney Hanrahan (Southampton, Mass.) improved on last year's race time by over three and a half minutes to help the Simmons College women's cross country team to a seventh-place finish on the six-kilometer course at the Seven Sister's Championship at Haverford College in Haverford, Pa. The race was hosted by Bryn Mawr College.

Wellesley College won the team championship with a score of 16 points and was led by individual champion, senior Priyanka Fouda (Wellesley, Mass.), who turned in a time of 22:58.1.

The Sharks posted a score of 173 and saw six runners record better times in this year's 6K race than last year.

MacLean clocked in at 24:23 to shave 1:45 off her time in last year's six-kilometer race. Hanrahan finished 94th, but her time of 30:31.8 was 3:38 better than her mark from last year. 

First year Samantha Jaffe (Fayettville, N.Y.) was the second-best finisher for Simmons with a time of 24:40.8 to place 33rd, while sophomore Allegra Egizi (Beverly, Mass.) came in at 25:16.3 to finish 47th. Junior Sara Harland (Pembroke, Mass.) placed 55th and improved on last year's time by 71 seconds with a mark of 25:57. Junior Bethanie Royality-Lindman (Wakefield, R.I.) rounded out the scoring for the Sharks with a time of 26:48.5 to better her effort from last year by 39 seconds and place 63rd.

Junior Hannah Hast (Bow, N.H.) crossed the finish in 95th place with a time of 30:34.7 to best last year's time by 86 seconds, while senior Amanda Cardonne (Chelmsford, Mass.) was five seconds better than last year with a time of 34:45.3 to place 100th.

Simmons competes again on Saturday, October 31 at 1:00 p.m. when it heads to Standish, Maine to compete at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship at Saint Joseph's College.
