BOSTON, Mass. – Simmons Cross Country swept the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Weekly awards after a third place finish at the Wellesley College Invitational on Saturday morning.
Junior Shelly Potter (York, Maine) was named GNAC Runner of the Week for her 17th place finish overall and finished first for the Sharks. Potter ran the 5k event in a time of 21:09, averaging 6:48 miles.
Senior Ellen Girouard (Wrentham, Mass.) helped pace the Sharks in the Wellesley Invitational, racing the 5k event in a time of 21:15 which was good for a 19th place overall finish. Her race time averaged out to 6:51 per mile, for second best on the Simmons roster.
The Sharks return to action on Thursday at the Pine Manor Invitational at 4:30 PM.
