Sharks Finish 5th at Roger Williams Invitational

BRISTOL, R.I. -- Simmons Cross Country opened their 2013 season today at the Roger Williams Invitational at Colt State Park. The Sharks ran to a 5th place finish in their debut.

 

Junior Shelly Potter (York, Maine) took the top spot for Simmons, finishing the 5K course in 21:42.29, for 29th place overall. Right on her heels was senior Ellen Girouard (Wrentham, Mass.), who finished 31st (21:47.65).  Sharks senior Bre Glynn (Marshfield, Mass.) and sophomore Kara MacLean (Braintree, Mass.) finished one hundredth of a second apart at 22:15 to finish in the top 40.

 

Connecticut College took top team honors with 36 points, followed by Wheaton College (81), Emmanuel College (118), and Roger Williams finished in 4th place with 149 points.

 

The Sharks return to action on Sep. 28 at the Wellesley College Invitational. Race time is set for 10:30 AM.
