Pierce Named GNAC Cross Country Rookie of the Week

BOSTON, Mass. -- Simmons freshman Tiffany Pierce (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Cross Country Rookie of the Week announced today by the conference. Pierce ran the Mount Ida Invitational 5K course in 21:30, finishing in first place in her first collegiate race and outrunning the runner-up by more than 25 seconds.

Pierce ran the Mount Ida Invitational 5K course in 21:30, finishing in first place in her first collegiate race and outrunning the runner-up by more than 25 seconds.

The Sharks took an overall first place team finish at the Invitational with 29 points. Junior Bre Glynn (Marshfield, Mass.) finished in 3rd place with a time of 22:17, senior Megan Coffey (Wilmot Flat, N.H.) in 6th place with a time of 22:55 and Shannon Deady (Medway, Mass.) edged out a runner from Curry College by three seconds for an 8th place finish to round out the top 10.

The Sharks return to action on October 4th at the Pine Manor at 4:00 p.m.
