Ashlan Speck (formerly Allison) joined the Sharks coaching staff prior to the 2013-14 campaign and is currently in her seventh season with Simmons tennis.
A graduate of Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Ill., Speck played four years for the Olivet Tigers, completing her senior season with a singles record of 18-6.
She served as a captain for two years and received many honors, culminating with the Arthur Ashe Jr. Women's National Award for Sportsmanship and Leadership for the NAIA. Speck accepted this award at a luncheon during the 2013 Arthur Ashe Kids' Day in New York City at the US Open. During her senior year, she also was chosen for the Capital One Academic All-American College Division women's at-large team.
Speck was a vital part in her team's success in reaching and excelling at the NAIA National Tennis Championships. She also excelled in the classroom, receiving many awards as a scholar athlete which included the Daktronics-NAIA Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete, NCCAA All-American Award, All-CCAC Singles Women's Tennis, and CCAC All-Academic Team to name a few.
Speck received her Bachelor of Social Work degree with a second major of Business Administration and not-for-profit management and management concentrations from Olivet Nazarene University. She moved to Boston to pursue her Master of Social Work at Boston College.
