Tennis Victorious Over Lesley to Close out 2023-24 Season

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons tennis closed out its spring season with a convincing 7-2 victory over nearby Lesley University on Saturday afternoon.

The Sharks to the early, 2-1 match lead, coming out victorious in doubles. First-years Emma Parsons and Ainsley Foster shutout the Lynx's Arianne Ramos and Jill Donlan, 8-0, before fellow first-years Emilie Lapointe and Megan Baadsgaard won first doubles, 8-5. Senior Sara Fucillo and junior Emily Lopez looked for the doubles sweep battling Brooke Whitten and Jordan Blair in second doubles, but fell just short losing in the tie-breaker

In the singles portion of the afternoon, Simmons won five of six matches. Parsons got it started, blanking Ramos, 6-0, 6-0, while Foster followed with a pair of shutouts against Donlan. The reigning GNAC Rookie of the Year, Emilia Lapointe pulled out the victory in first singles, holding off Mary Osucha (6-4, 6-2).

Fucillo picked up the Sharks sixth match win of the day with a win in fourth singles, while Baadsgaard capped off the day pulling out the second singles victory. After grabbing the 1-0 lead in second singles, Baadsgaard sealed the day with a 6-2 win over Whitten in the second set.
