Tennis Falls to Emerson in Rain Shortened Match

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons tennis fell to Emerson College in a rain shortened match, 6-0, on Wednesday afternoon.

First-year Emilie Lapointe battled a tough Lions opponent, Sammi Perry at the top spot of the Sharks lineup. Lapointe made Perry for the two-set winning, taking the Lions' number one to 12 games in each set.

Junior Emily Lopez gave Emerson's Gabrielle McGovern at in third singles. McGovern narrowly edged out Lopez in the first set, winning the tie-breaker, 8-6, before moving on to seal the match with a 6-2 win in the second set.

However in fifth singles, first-year Emma Parsons forced Emma Londoner to a third set. After dropping the first set, 7-5, Parson evened the match with a convincing 6-1 win in the second before falling in the third, 10-6. Fellow first-year Megan Baadsgaard also took her second singles opponent to three set with a 6-3 win in the second set to force the third and almost won the third before falling, 15-13.
