BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons tennis (10-9) concluded its spring season edging out Husson University, 5-4, on cool Friday evening. The Sharks capped off the spring season back-to-back victories to finish the spring with a 2-3 mark.

Husson began the day with a win in third doubles, but the Sharks first doubles tandem of senior Leah Bonis and Sam Margolin evened the match with an 8-2 win. With doubles all tied, sophomore Emily Lopez and first-year Annabelle Halloran were able to pull out the 8-6 victory over Sage Dubay and Olivia Chandler in second doubles.

In the singles portion of the match, the Eagles' Julia Barber and Dubay gave Husson the brief 3-2 lead with a pair of two-set victories in third and fourth singles. But sophomore Julia Perconti continued to improve on the courts, defeating Lexi Thompson in two sets, 7-5, 6-2, to tie up the overall match.

The Eagles re-gained the lead with a victory in sixth singles, but it was short-lived. In second singles, despite dropping the first set, 6-3, Bonis responded with a convincing, 6-0, 6-1, wins over Molly Chicoine to even the match at four. Halloran sealed the match with a two-set, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5), tiebreak, win over Emily Doten in first singles.
