Tennis Knocks Off Suffolk, 6-3, to Win Its Third Straight Match

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Simmons tennis (3-1) won its third straight match defeating non-conference Suffolk University (0-1), on Wednesday afternoon.

The Sharks opened the match taking doubles, 2-1. Simmons second doubles tandem, seniors Leah Bonis and Sam Margolin made quick work of Suffolk's Bianca Presott and Alyssa Blade, with an 8-2 win. The Rams managed to pull out first doubles with Caren Urbano and Rachel Hill edging out juniors Olga Zhizhin and Vanessa Camargo in a tie-breaker.

Simmons took four of the six singles matches. Senior Libby Weed knocked off Blade in two sets, 6-0, 6-1, in second singles, while sophomore Avery Halloran defeated Bianca Prescott in third singles, 7-6, 6-3.

Making her singles debut at fourth singles, sophomore Julia Perconti forced a third-set after dropping the first set 6-0. Perconti answered and edged out the Rams Rachel Hill, 7-5, in the second, but fell in the third-set tie-breaker.
