Tennis Falls to Roger Williams in Season Opener

BRISTOL, R.I. – Simmons tennis (0-1) fellow to non-conference Roger Williams University (1-0) to open the season, Thursday afternoon.

The Hawks began the day strong with a sweep of doubles, but it did not come easy for them. Simmons third doubles tandem of senior Mary Miller and sophomore Julia Perconti gave Roger Williams' pairing of Izzy Pecora and Kate Hardy a run before falling, 8-0.

In the singles portion of the competition, junior Vanessa Camargo battled Gracie McCarthy tough in set two after dropping the first set, 6-0. They were the second to last match finish as Carmego took McCarthy to 10 games before falling, 6-4. However, the sixth singles matchwas the one to watch.

Senior Samantha Margolin took Lily Creem to a tie-break in the first set, but Creem squeaked out the tie-breaker, 6-0, to take a 1-0 match advantage. Margolin battled tough in the second set, but fell 6-3.
