Ashby Named GNAC and ECAC New England Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week AgainOctober 27, 2014WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College women’s volleyball player Emmee Ashby (Payson, Ariz.) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference New England and Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week, it was announced by both leagues. Ashby was tabbed for the third straight week and has earned the honor a league-high four times for the GNAC. She also earned the award for the week of September 22-28. The award marks the third time she has been selected by the ECAC.

Volleyball Sweeps GNAC Tri-Match with 3-0 Wins over Suffolk and Mount IdaOctober 25, 2014BOSTON, Mass. - The Simmons College volleyball team earned a pair of 3-0 victories in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match this afternoon at Suffolk University in Boston, Mass. The Sharks defeated Suffolk, 25-14, 25-14, 25-13, and downed Mount Ida College, 25-19, 25-14, 25-18 to win their eighth straight match and 11 of their last 14 to improve to 11-13 overall and 9-2 in league play after completing their conference slate. The wins assure Simmons of a home playoff contest in the GNAC Championship tournament.

First Years Lead Volleyball over Cross-Street GNAC Rival, Emmanuel, 3-1October 23, 2014BOSTON, Mass. - First years Emmee Ashby (Payson, Ariz.) (16 kills) and Sarah Woodward (Deerfield, Mass.) (9 kills, 13 digs) led the Simmons College volleyball team to a 3-1 (19-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-11) victory this evening in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match at the Jean Yawkey Center in Boston, Mass. The Sharks have won six straight and nine of their last 12 to improve to 9-13 on the season, while the Saints fall to 19-10 and suffer their first conference loss, dropping them to 6-1.

The Sharks' three-match win streak ends as they fall to 3-12 on the season, while the Engineers, who are ranked sixth in the region by the New England Women's Volleyball Association and defeated the Jumbos, 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-22), improve to 17-2 on the season. Tufts, which is ranked ninth in the region, is now 9-7 after today's play.
