    WINCHESTER, Mass. – Simmons College women’s volleyball player Emmee Ashby (Payson, Ariz.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year and also a First Team All-Conference selection, while teammate Andalyn Duke (Litchfield Park, Ariz.) was chosen for the Third Team and named to the All-Sportsmanship Team, it was announced today by the league.

    NASHUA, N.H. - The third-seeded Simmons College women's volleyball team lost to host number two seed Rivier University, 3-1 (25-17, 25-12, 24-26, 25-13) this evening in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals at Muldoon Gymnasium in Nashua, N.H. The Sharks fall to 12-15 on the season and await to see if they will earn a bid to the Eastern College Athletic Conference New England Tournament.

The Sharks season-long eight-match win streak comes to an end as they fall to 11-14 on the season, while the Engineers improve to 11-19.
  • Ashby Named GNAC and ECAC New England Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week Again

    WINTHROP, Mass. – Simmons College women’s volleyball player Emmee Ashby (Payson, Ariz.) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference New England and Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week, it was announced by both leagues. Ashby was tabbed for the third straight week and has earned the honor a league-high four times for the GNAC. She also earned the award for the week of September 22-28. The award marks the third time she has been selected by the ECAC.
  • Volleyball Sweeps GNAC Tri-Match with 3-0 Wins over Suffolk and Mount Ida

    BOSTON, Mass. - The Simmons College volleyball team earned a pair of 3-0 victories in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match this afternoon at Suffolk University in Boston, Mass. The Sharks defeated Suffolk, 25-14, 25-14, 25-13, and downed Mount Ida College, 25-19, 25-14, 25-18 to win their eighth straight match and 11 of their last 14 to improve to 11-13 overall and 9-2 in league play after completing their conference slate. The wins assure Simmons of a home playoff contest in the GNAC Championship tournament.
  • First Years Lead Volleyball over Cross-Street GNAC Rival, Emmanuel, 3-1

    BOSTON, Mass. - First years Emmee Ashby (Payson, Ariz.) (16 kills) and Sarah Woodward (Deerfield, Mass.) (9 kills, 13 digs) led the Simmons College volleyball team to a 3-1 (19-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-11) victory this evening in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match at the Jean Yawkey Center in Boston, Mass. The Sharks have won six straight and nine of their last 12 to improve to 9-13 on the season, while the Saints fall to 19-10 and suffer their first conference loss, dropping them to 6-1.

The award marks the second time she has earned the accolade. She was the league’s top rookie of the week of September 22-28 as well.

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Simmons College volleyball team took home a pair of victories with 3-0 victories over host Albertus Magnus College and York College (N.Y.) as part of a tri-match this afternoon in New Haven, Conn. The contest vs. Albertus Magnus was a conference tilt. The Sharks improve to 5-13 overall and 4-2 in league play, while Albertus Magnus is now 4-14 and 0-5, while York falls to 4-17.

The Sharks three-match conference win streak comes to an end as they fall to 3-13 overall and 3-2 in league play, while the Raiders improve to 16-5 and 3-0.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Simmons College women's volleyball team was defeated by host Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-19), and Tufts University, 3-0 (25-12, 25-10, 25-20), in a tri-match today at Rockwell Cage on the campus of MIT in Cambridge, Mass. The Sharks' three-match win streak ends as they fall to 3-12 on the season, while the Engineers, who are ranked sixth in the region by the New England Women's Volleyball Association and defeated the Jumbos, 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-22), improve to 17-2 on the season. Tufts, which is ranked ninth in the region, is now 9-7 after today's play.

The Sharks fall to 0-10 on the season, while the Judges win their third straight match to improve to 5-7.

    BOSTON, Mass. – The Simmons College women’s volleyball team fell to the visiting Regis College, 3-0 (25-22, 28-26, 25-14), in the opening contest of a tri-match today at Moore Gymnasium on the campus of Simmons. The Sharks later lost to Framingham State University, 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-17). Framingham defeated Regis in the middle match, 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-23). Simmons falls to 0-9 on the season, while the Rams improve to 10-2 with a pair of wins and the Pride come away with a 10-7 mark.

The Sharks fall to 0-6 overall and 0-1 in league play, while the Blue Jays improve to 3-2 and 1-0.
