90 Simmons Student-Athletes Named to GNAC All-Academic Team

WINTHROP, Mass. – Ninety Simmons College student-athletes from nine different varsity athletic teams were named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, it was announced by the GNAC.

The full squad consists of 822 student-athletes from 12 full-time and 13 associate member institutions that have met the following criteria in maintaining a 3.25 cumulative grade point average for the past academic year, completed at least one full season of competition at a GNAC institution and is of sophomore status academically.

For the fifth consecutive year, all nine of Simmons' eligible athletic programs were recognized by the GNAC. The Simmons cross country (20), women's basketball (eight), softball (13) and swimming & diving (14) teams all had more members of their respective teams honored by the league than any other school. The Sharks' field hockey, women's lacrosse, women's soccer women's tennis and women's volleyball teams were also well-represented with honorees.

Simmons sponsors 10 athletics programs, including women's crew, which competes in the New England Women's and Men's Athletics Conference. Each team earned a respective GPA of at least 3.34 and the department as a whole produced a 3.47 GPA for 2014-15.
