Mindy Williams began her tenure with the Sharks in 2008 and has been the Head Coach of Swimming and Diving at Simmons for 12 campaigns.

Williams' time at Simmons has been nothing short of spectacular, leading the Sharks to their 16th consecutive Great Northeast Athletic Conference title in 2019-20, including 12 under her watch, while being named GNAC Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year for the ninth time.  In addition, she has guided Simmons to a pair of New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships (2018 and 2019) and has been tabbed the NEISDA Coach of the Year four times in her career.

The Sharks 2019 NEISDA title effort included a 153.5-point victory fueled by the squad winning six individual events and three relay races during the meet and saw 14 competitors combine to achieve All-NEISDA status 49 times by virtue of a top-eight individual or top-four finish in a relay. Simmons also combined to win 30 medals, including 18 golds and broke a school and meet record during the meet. The Sharks placed 34th the next month in its second consecutive appearance, following a season that saw Simmons post an 11-2 dual-meet record to post double-digit victories for the sixth year in a row. 

Williams' successful path at Simmons has seen her program grow in numbers and achievements. The Sharks placed 13th at the NEISDA Championship in 2011, before placing 11th and eighth in the next two years. Simmons made huge gains to earn third place in 2014 and Williams was deservedly recognized as the NEISDA Coach of the Year. The Sharks have not finished lower than third with two more third-place showings, a runner-up effort in 2017 and the program's first crown in 2018. Along the way, the Sharks have boasted 105 All-Conference honorees and a significant number of All-NEISDA efforts to go with a First Team All-American and an Honorable Mention All-American.

During Williams' tenure, the Sharks have compiled a 100-40 (71.4%) dual meet record, including 70-15 (82.4%) over the past seven seasons and have finished no lower than 13th at the New England Championship, including eight top-eight showings. She's also tutored six GNAC Swimmer of the Year and four league Rookie of the Year honorees, while seeing a staggering 26 school records broken to go with 11 new pool standards and 21 GNAC marks. In addition, she has served as the NEISDA President in 2018-19 and during the 2009-2010 campaign.

Williams joined the Simmons coaching staff after four years as Head Swim Coach and Aquatics Director at Regis College in Weston, MA, where she continually grew the women’s swimming and diving program and built a solid foundation for the first-ever men’s swimming and diving team.

A native of Vermont, she received her undergraduate degree in 2003 from Colby College.  While at Colby, she competed at the varsity level for four years and was an NCAA qualifier in 2000 and 2003.  She won All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) honors in the 1650, 500 and 200 freestyle relay and served as team Captain her senior year.

Williams started her career as the assistant coach of both swimming and water polo at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn.

Williams continues to swim at the Masters level, serving on the board of New England Masters. She has routinely earned National Top-Ten rankings.

In addition to her coaching duties, Williams also serves as the department’s Aquatics Director.
