Swimming and Diving Pull out Double-Dual Win Against UNE, Colby-Sawyer

BOSTON – Simmons swimming and diving (2-3) picked up a pair of wins in a double dual meet against the University of New England and Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday afternoon. Winning eight events over the course of the day, he Sharks defeated the Chargers, 172-63, and narrowly edged out the Nor'esters, 139-115. 

The Sharks 400-ayrd medley relay squad of Camelia Hannah, Katelyn Quinlan, Carli Quinlan and Kenzie Lowry opened the day strong securing first place with a time of 4:26.11, edging out UNE's A squad by three seconds. Simmons' B-relay, of Kaleigh Stout, Isabel Barry-Ruiz, Anna Kelly and Clarissa Weaver touched the wall with a time of 5:19.07 

Junior Camelia Hannah registered a pair of wins, including the 50-yard fly, where she touched the wall with a season-best time of 29.44. Earlier in the meet, Hannah secured another event win in the 50-yard back, edging out UNE's Olivia Roux by one second with a time of 31.33.

Additionally, sophomore swimmer Carli Quinlan continued her steady performance in the pool winning the 100 free, with a season-best time of 55.63, and the 100 fly (1:02.70). First-year Bee Eckels won the 100-yard breast stroke with a season-best time of 1:17.96. 

Simmons closed out the meet with the 400-yard freestyle relay, where Carli Quinlan anchored the Sharks A quartet to secure the team's eighth and final win of the day with at time of 3:54.56.

SIMMONS HIGHLIGHTS

  • Junior Camelia Hannah won a pair of individual events: 50 fly (29.44) and 50 back (31.33).
  • First-year Bee Eckels won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:17.96.
  • Sophomore Carli Quinlan anchored the 400-yard free relay squad that posted a time of 3:54.56 in addition to also wining the 100 fly and 100 free.
