Harmon Tabbed as GNAC Rookie of the Year

WINTHROP, Mass. – First-year swimmer Ella Harmon was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Year, announced by the conference on Friday. She became just the fifth Simmons first-year to earn Rookie of the Year accolades, joining Shylee Stewart (2013-14), Laura Simpson (2015-16), Maria Soraghan (2017-18) and Sarah Singleton (2018-19). 

A two-time GNAC Rookie of the Week selection, Harmon earned All-Conference honors in the 50-yard butterfly and the 100-yard butterfly, posting times of 27.75 and 1:02.04, respectively. She swam a personal-best time in the 200-yard freestyle at the GNAC Championships, touching the wall with a time of 2:04.70. Additionally, she helped the Sharks seal second place at the conference championship as a member of the 800-yard free relay squad that finished second with a time of 8:20.03. Harmon closed out the regular season posting personal-best times in the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.74) and 200-yard butterfly (2:20.53) at the NEISDA Championships.

Fellow first-year Camelia Hannah also received GNAC accolades being named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
